(for DE1 XXL machines, a .stl for a taller stem is available https://3.basecamp.com/3671212/buckets/7351439/messages/8454269698 )
I recommend Printing in PLA, 15% infill. Other plastics are too flexible.
Glue with Weldon 16 or Super Glue (cyanoacrylate)
You only need 1 of the 2 stem options, choose the style you prefer.
The “Optional text fill” gives you the option to press fit a different colour infill if you wish.
The kit will work with the USB cable supplied with the HDS but it may require careful placement to ensure it does not cause resistance to the weighing platform.
Alternatively, the kit allows for a wireless power connection between the scale and base, eliminating any cable resistance. For this option, you need to purchase a changer and receiver as shown in the photos.
The charger needs to be approx. 56mm diameter and 5mm thick
The receiver needs to be USB-C type, approx. 44mm x 75mm x 1mm
Fitting requires a 2mm Allen key, to undo the two screws from the underside of the HDS. The base is removed and not used with this kit. The screws are used to attach the printed caddy part in the same manner as the original base.
You will need to glue the top to the stem, and the cable clamp to the back of the caddy if using the original USB cable.
Once the base has been removed from the HDS, the scale slides into the stem part from the back, pushing it firmly and straight, the two sight holes on the under side strap can be used to sight the screws of the battery clamps, ensuring correct alignment.
Fit the USB lead or wireless receiver.
The USB-C plug needs to be fitted so the lead angles up and then through the back stop and wound through the cable stay.
For the wireless option, make sure the wireless receiver is inserted the correct way up. For my part, the side with TYPE-C written on it needs to face down, toward the wireless charger.
Fit the wireless charger into the mount on the caddy and fit the cap to secure it in place. Be aware that the charger also has a top side, it needs to face up toward the receiver.
Use a cable tie to keep the charger tied down out of the way.
Then attach the caddy to the stand using the screws removed from the scales original base plate.
