Important!
Rules and regulations regarding electrical installations and devices vary significantly between countries, please make sure that you comply with any local regulations that may be relevant.
The design is intended for use with a cable that plug into a socket, to be mounted under for example a desk and with devices drawing relatively low power. It is not intended for permanent installation as part of the electrical system in a house or similar or for hooking up the vacuum cleaner and hauling it around.
Always disconnect from power when adding/removing wires.
Familiarize yourself with the specifications provided by WAGO, such as using the proper strip length of 11mm (see inside of lid for strip length indicator), current ratings and acceptable wire gauge.
The recommended type of filament is Prusament PETG V0 (or similar) as it is flame retardant and UL certified.
If you have any concerns regarding safety or legality, please don't print this.
Description
An alternative to an electrical socket, for use for example under a desk. This essentially replaces a 4-socket power strip but requires cutting off the plug at the end of the cable. Much more compact than a large 4-socket power strip.
The box has 4 screw holes for attaching it to a surface, you can also use strong double sided adhesive if you don't want to drill any holes.
File description / Versions
You will need to print the Box, Lid and Clamp.
The box come in two versions:
- _ForClamps, where you print 5 of the CableClamps to secure the cables.
- _ForZipTies, where you use 5 zip-ties to secure the cables.
Parts required
2x WAGO 222-415. These will work with 12-24 AWG (0.08-2.5 mm²) wire, both solid and stranded, and are rated at 400V / 32A. These are sold in boxes of 40 for ~25€ or can sometimes be found as single units for around 1-2€/each.
3x M3x18mm, ideally counter-sunk (or more M3 screws if using CableClamps).
Print settings
Print as shown on the slicer image, with support only required for the Clamp.
I printed these in PLA with a 0.60mm nozzle, 0.20mm layer height, 4 walls and 10% rectilinear infill.
STEP file
Includes STEP file if you want to make any modifications.
Problems or feedback?
If you have any problems with the design, some feedback or any questions please don't hesitate to contact me. But please note that if what you want is really a different model, and not a slightly modified/improved one, then please look into designing one yourself.
