I originally had the idea for the VOC Vacuum when building an enclosure for my ender. I could not find an air filter unit that did not have a large BOM (Bill Of  Materials). Additionally I wanted something that could run independent of my printer for those times when I needed to do soldering on it as I don't have a dedicated soldering station at home. To satisfy these requirements I came up with the VOC Vacuum. The design uses air pressure differentials to seal the different sections together while stopping fumes from escaping, and is built on readily available parts, some that you can even find at your local home depot.

(note: I am working on a v2 with better seams that should be out in 1-2 months)

Printer requirements:

  • 180 X 175 mm build plate
  • Can print PLA

BOM (Bill Of Materials):

  • 120mmX120mmX38mm AC fan ( ZON )
  • R size HEPA filter ( ZON )
  • Activated carbon sheets/pellets ( ZON )
  • 1kg of filament (not a flexible)  (e.g. PLA)
  • Two random screws between 8-2 mm in diameter

(note: Total cost should be ~ 90$ with filament )

Print settings:

  • Modify your support threshold angle (support overhang angle in cura) to 80° and set your infill to 5-10%. Other than that default settings.

(note: there is a part with the word laggy in its name, expect that part to take upwards of 30 min to slice)
