My wife had a soft Caboodle make up case for years. She wanted something to organize it and so it was done.
This started with a work trip, she just shoved everything in her Caboodle Makeup bag and then would complain about loosing stuff in the bottom. So My lovely wife asked if I could make something to organize her Caboodle bag like a Gridfinity. (obviously, she IS listening to my conversations about how cool Zack Freedman is.) We took measurements of her Caboodle bag and since there are NO official mentions of the size, we settled on some numbers. Gridfinity wouldn't work but I printed a sample bottom and then she cut out paper to make the layout that she wanted. After a quick layout and build, I started the print so she had something to run out the door for her week with the other DB Geeks that pay for meals etc.. It had an issue but would work since we didn't have time to print another.
BTW, You don't have to ONLY have makeup in this organizer. She also fit a few other needs into it like toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, etc..
The pictures are Version 1 and there was a lost Vr. 2 somewhere but I've settled on the Version included in this Pintables - Vr. 3. (and a bonus Vr. 4)
Vr. 1 had the cutouts too close to the edge and I didn't notice till after print was started and she needed it in the morning so I let it run it's course.
Vr. 2 was lost but didn't rate. Trust me…
Vr. 3 is the better print and tighter compartments so it fixed the problem with the slice down the sides of VR 1. Also, Vr. 3 is the original with high 4" sides but we also included the same layout with just the short 2.5" sides. I personally don't like the short sides because the sides can fall in and get crushed but she said to let people choose and she's usually right. IF you really want, you can extend the Z Axis up/Down as you need for your own needs and modify the heights.
VR. 4? Well, this isn't exactly a version, just a solid block in the size of the Caboodle. You can import it into an advance slicer or even a Cad program or Tinkercad and add some negative cubes or cylinders to create your OWN custom layout. Remember, My wife cut out pieces of paper on a drawing to show me how she wanted it laid out. (See the picture, it was a great craft project!) Now you can do the same and lay yours out exactly like you want, or you could make one for your special person also!
So, Use the premade OR work up your own, either way, “Happy Organizing!” and have a great trip!
