IT3 Industries is my DBA hint the tag on the model
DISCLAIMER:
This project is one of hopefully many to showcase some of the technology regarding injection molding. Starting with this independent mold, the back plate is windowed in a way that would accept 2 ejector bars yet supports exist in those locations. I plan on using the basic components to showcase different versions/options of mold technologies so while not viable on this design it may be utilized later on. “Future proofing”. In the meantime this model would exist as a center eject only mold. I plan on making a cam and horn pin variant in my next iteration, most likely with a removable hot tip assembly as well. (soonTM)
Quick injection mold jargon: A side = Side that stays in place in the press. B side = Side that moves with the clamp.
For model specific jargon: If it is designated with a collection of 3-4 letters and numbers = bolt , print threads to the sky
PRINT SETTINGS/INFORMATION:
Layer height: 0.1mm - 0.2mm
Walls and shells: 3-5
Materials: Dealer's choice, I used PLA.
Supports: On most of the large components, I used tree/organic supports on all pieces minus the B side base (used normal supports) given the sheer quantity of threaded holes on that one. All bolts and pins can be printed without supports with ease.
Brim: So 3 of these are large components and are best printed flat, I used a 7mm brim on them just to ensure no warpage so assembly went smooth. Only used on the large components.
The assembly tool is advised to be used, the bolts have a 5mm wide cutout in them so no logical screw driver would work with them.
For printability reasons I did not include the runner/sprue model. Frankly I never made it because it would be a nightmare to mess with.
I included some cutaways to show what went where and how, I am working on an assembly video as well. (also soonTM)
