I am a mechanical engineering freshman at NC State for Mechanical Engineering, and for one of the intro to Engineering courses, all the freshmen make an original design. My group got the mechanical music maker category, and we decided to make this.

All of the testing and modeling was done by me, and I learned a lot from this project. I learned the importance of dimensioning parts a specific way, test fitting for a 3D printer, and developing creative ways to solve engineering problems. For this project, I decided to use software different from the usual Solidworks and instead used Autodesk Inventor.

I am excited to present this model to the judges on FEDD day, the large event where all freshmen show off what they have made during the semester.

I attached the link to a document with recommendations and instructions on how to print and assemble the project, along with a .3mf file with my recommended settings for a Bambu Lab P1P.

Edit:

We Won! We competed with about 16 other groups in the Mechanical Music Maker Machine category, and the judges liked our design the most!

I added pictures showing our trifold and some prototypes we made to get our design perfect.

Here is a link to our video portion of our project. Hope you enjoy!
