Simple birdfeeder bracket for AFCO railing
This style of plant hook frequently just attached with screws to the wooden post of a deck,
Our most recent deck upgrade moved to AFCO aluminum railing and I did not want to put holes in the new post.
This design satisfied several issues:
- unobtrusive appearance, blending into new railing
- no metal to metal contact with rail , to reduce corrosion
The plant hooks are only the same dimensionally in a single batch. If you get one a year later, it will be slightly different. The two I had were 47.7 and 48.3 between mounting holes , so assume you will need to modify dimensions to suit what you have ( step file included ).
You will notice that clamping hardware is deeply recessed and uses M3 inserts to make minimal appearance. The hardware is all stainless and pocketed to avoid contact with the AFCO railing. I added the usual trick of "peaking" the recessed hexagonal recesses to make printing cleaner.
