This is a GPS tracking device I made for my dog. There are two parts: the tracker and the receiver. The tracker is attached to the harness of my dog and sends GPS coordinates to the receiver via LoRa radio signals. The receiver has an LCD screen and simply plugs into a USB-C phone charger. The tracker is powered by a rechargeable battery.

To use device I simply switch the tracker on an wait several seconds for the GPS to find a fix. There is a yellow LED inside that will begin flashing once it secures a fix and begins sending data. Then plug in the receiver and wait for the coordinates to display. You can then take the coordinates and use them any way you'd like. I search for them in Google Maps and it plots a point for me on the map.

I'm planning on having this connect to my phone in the future with the ESP32's I am using. I need to create an app though and have no experience so if anyone is willing to help it would be greatly appreciated.

There are may things I want to improve, this is just a prototype. Ideally the tracker should be smaller and have more features (via an app). I would also like to weather seal it, and improve the battery/charger setup. These are all things I plan on working on in the future.

Printing Instructions

Print how you think it will print best. The only part that needed support for me was the tracker case top. I printed it with the side with the two rectangular holes flat against the bed. Print in a strong durable material like PETG or ASA if you can, PLA will work fine though. Use at least 3 perimeters so there is enough material for the heated inserts. 20% infill works good for me.

Assembly Instructions

Both the receiver and tracker cases are two pieces which are held together by M3 screws. The perf boards inside use M3 screws for the receiver and M2 for the tracker. The wiring diagrams will show you how to connect all the parts but you will have to figure out placement. I will show pictures so you can see how I did it. Ideally this board will be much more plug and plug once I get it dialed in, but right now its a bit of a mess. Otherwise assembly is pretty straight forward.
