FalconTamer - CryoDewar Sample Organizer
A modular 3D-printed system designed to organize bundles of Falcon tube ropes or cables emerging from a cryogenic dewar. Helps prevent tangling and enables clean routing of cables during sample storage.
All parts are printed in PLA. Tolerances are intentionally loose to allow easy assembly and to work with different printers. For permanent fixation, parts can be assembled using superglue.
The design is used by the "Harvard Cryo-EM Center for structural biology" to bring order to our storage dewars.
Print Instructions
Collar
Print 6×. Requires support structures — see orientation guide below.
SpindleSockets
Print up to 6x per dewar. Contain seven threads to add spindles
Spindle
Chess-piece shaped part, allows cable to be wrapped around and fixated in gaps. Print 7× per SpindleSockets. Printing in one color with color change for the last few layers creates nice contrast.
Extenders (optional)
Use to increase the spacing between the SpindleSocket and Collar as needed. Print as many as required for your setup.
