This RC Truck is an aesthetic variation of the original model made for 3D Printer Party contest.

IMPORTANT! You have to download the original version to build this one, our model just includes the additional parts needed, is just aesthetical.

Check the Arduino .ino file for programming the ESP32 in our GitHub https://github.com/Hackerspace-Castellon/Bender-ShareHorizons.

  • You have to include this libraries in Arduino IDE (Preferably using the library manager): Adafruit_NeoPixel, ESP32-audioI2S , ESP32Servo
  • You have to move the .wav files to the root folder of an SD Card, please make sure the format is FAT32.

 

Code Improvements

Our version includes several enhancements to the original Share Horizons code:

Enhanced LED lighting system:

  • Separated LEDs into distinct zones (base, teeth, eyes) with specific effects for each
  • Eyes change color according to movement direction (green for forward, red for reverse)
  • Teeth "chatter" when audio is playing and remain constantly lit when silent
  • Custom light patterns like rainbow effect on the base and police lights when the shovel is raised

Integrated audio system:

  • Plays "inicio.wav" when the robot starts up
  • Plays "cambio_berserk.wav" when the controller connects
  • Plays "dormido.wav" when the controller disconnects
  • Random audio playback from various files with 20-second intervals
  • Synchronized mouth movement (teeth LEDs) with audio playback

Motor direction and angles changed:

  • The rotation direction of the motors depends on your specific assembly. If your truck moves in unexpected directions check the rotation direction.

Technical optimizations:

  • Modified pin assignments to solve Guru Meditation Error issues
  • Increased audio buffer size for stability
  • Non-blocking code structure for smooth operation
