It seems like everyone and their mother has made some version of these sanding blocks in some subset of shapes, but I've not seen anyone make a version that is both extensive in variation of shape, or that uses the same length of material across all those variations. This is my solution to this.
For now, I've only made blocks that are 16mm wide. all of which take a strip that is 210mm long (you may need to adjust this based on the thickness of the strip material - for example I needed to go slightly longer for the scotchbrite pad)
You will need
- M5x6 Heat-set Insert (one per block printed)
- M5x30 Hex-head Screw (one per knob & wedge printed)
Instructions
- Heat-set insert goes into the hole in the sanding block.
- Bolt gets inserted through the Knob.
- wrap your sandpaper strip around the sanding block
- Bolt down onto the sanding block, through the wedge, capturing the sandpaper.
I've included a “narrow” version of the locking wedge, as well.
I've printed mine in ABS-GF (except the knobs, those are Matte PLA), but you might be fine with PETG or even PLA, but I make no promises.
