This hex fidget compresses with a finger and extends using opposing magnets. A pin prevents separation.

This fidget compresses with your finger or thumb and returns to the extended position with two opposing 20 mm magnets glued within. A pin on the inner hex mates with a slot on the outer hex to prevent the parts from inadvertently separating. A small amount of flex allows the pin to pass by the interference with the mating hex. The design calls for a 1 mm clearance between the two parts.
Vladmier Murano, Desktop Makes, provided the original design approach several years ago. He printed similar hexes using vase mode. To improve wear characteristics, I designed with walls 1 mm thick.
Fifty 20 x 5 mm magnets are available from Amazon for under $8 today.
I used super glue to adhere the magnets to the prints.
