Marlboro Lamp – 3D Printed Smart Light (Optional HomeKit Support)

Print Settings & Color Tips

Fuzzy Skin: For best visual effect, print all outer pieces with fuzzy skin enabled. Avoid using fuzzy skin on inner parts or any precision-fit areas.

Text Coloring: If you’d like to paint the extruded texture and text, use the Fill tool in your slicer. The text is slightly raised to make this easy. Alternatively, use the provided pre-colored 3MF file for instant results.

Top white Piece: The top section in white (with the text) includes two versions: one plain STL and one colored. Either way, add a thin black collar ring at the top for the signature look.

🧩

Assembly

Base Options: There are two versions of the base:

Standard version with just the led strip.

Smart version with support for the Meross MSS710HK switch (Apple HomeKit compatible).

Internal Structure: Use the stackable internal parts to reinforce the lamp:

Start with a half-sized insert, stack the full ones, then end with another half insert.

Superglue both internal and external seams. Quick note: the glue sets very fast—do a test run first!

🎨

Recommended Colors

Base & Internals: “Bone” PLA or any off-white tone.

Top (Filter): A custom mix of dark orange PLA and Bambu’s Matte Peach gives a nice contrast. use the lighter shade for the texture and the dark for the main color.

I went with only a single filter (orange top) instead of two for a cleaner look. If you prefer to not saw your IKEA VIDGA rod, go with both filters. If you’re okay with cutting, use only the top filter and trim the rod visually (I didn’t measure—just eyeballed it).

🔌

Electronics

LED Strip: I used a wall plug-in LED strip with adhesive backing for easy mounting. It runs from the bottom to the top and back down again on the rod.

Avoid warm white LEDs if your print is in bone/off-white—they tend to cast a yellowish hue. I used white.

Watch out for voltage requirements if using custom LEDs—it can be tricky, so I recommend a plug-in ready solution.

Cables: If your cable is thicker than mine (6mm), you may want to slightly edit the STL for the base to widen the channel (hole for the cable).
