3D Printed 10" Network Rack Mount for Netgear GS305PP
As part of my classroom network setup project, I’m building 10" 3D-printed racks for my students. They'll be configuring and testing real-world networks, gaining hands-on experience with real hardware. There's no better way to learn networking than by building it from the ground up!
Rack Setup:
I based this design on the LabRax 10" Server Rack (5U), which you can find here: LabRax 10" Server Rack. While this rack design is a solid starting point, the Horizontal+Edge+Solid piece is a bit too large for a Prusa MK4(s) build plate, so I had to get creative. Fortunately, a friend’s son was able to help with some of the larger prints.
Why the Netgear GS305PP?
This switch supports Power over Ethernet (PoE), making it ideal for powering PoE-enabled devices like access points and Raspberry Pis, without the need for separate power adapters. This is a huge advantage in classroom setups where clean, efficient power distribution is essential.
Printing Tips:
For the best results, print all rack mounts face down, with supports for the “top” to ensure stability and strength. Here are my recommended slicer settings:
- Vertical Shells:
- Perimeters: 3
- Horizontal Shells:
- Solid Layers: 6 top, 5 bottom
Compatibility:
This mount should support any 10" rack.
