Picked up some Chipolo One Point trackers with the intention of putting them on the dog collars in case they “escape”. My dogs were previously strays, so they retained the wanderlust. The dogs also play pretty rough with each other, and I don't see a world in which the keychain approach holds up. I figured it would take a couple days before the trackers were no longer on the collars and potentially broken.

So, basing this approach on another make, I set out to make something that would protect the tracker itself and hold it tight (not dangly) against the collar so it wouldn't be used as a chew toy.

This model has 3 parts. The main two provide the housing for the tracker. The third provides a way of securing to the collar. My dogs collars are wider and thicker than other models, so I needed something that would accommodate. Also wanted it to grip the collar some so it doesn't slide around. So this is sized specifically to the collars we use.

This model also has a cavity for embedding M3 nuts that I had on hand. So, when slicing, put a pause in there so you can add the nuts in place and they will be captured. I used some M3x16mm screws and nuts that I had in quantity, so these can really tighten on the collar and stay put, and I don't worry about the screws backing out and losing the trackers. Been using them now for a couple weeks and they haven't loosened at all.

Printed in PETG. For my dogs, avoiding PLA as they spend a lot of time outside in the heat and these would likely get weak. Also, orientation of the models is how I had them in Fusion so I could make sure everything mated well. Print flat side down. Lastly, tolerances are TIGHT, by intention. I wanted these to protect the trackers as much as possible, so when installing the tracker these will snap together with a bit of difficulty. Once tightened with the screws, these may be pretty water tight. I am not claiming it nor did I test it, but, yeah.

And sorry for the lousy pictures. I have a pair of lazy-*** dogs.
