Inspired by Michal Blazek's (@mibla_44019) "Radius gauge 1-20 mm", I wanted to have a tool that matches the original but it's used to measure gaps / widths / distances.

The tool was designed with the alignment of car body panels in mind, where a vernier calliper could scratch/damage the paint.

The plates are 1.5mm thick (1.45mm to compensate for printing tolerances) and have widths ranging from 1mm up to 28.5mm in 0.5mm increments ( 1 - 1.5 - 2 - 2.5 - 3 - 3.5…)

The covers are saved as a 3mf project file, so the text can be edited depending on what size range you want to print out, and the length of bolts available.

Required are 2x M5 nuts (self-locking nyloc), and 2x M5 countersunk head bolts of your desired length, depending on how many plates you print.

A M5x30 countersunk bolts will hold 18 plates (so 36 total). Add or subtract 1.5mm for each plate you add or remove.

I have printed the plates with the size number on top. There is a slight chamfer on the opposite side edge to prevent elephant foot first layer distortion.

Sadly I exported all plates in the wrong orientation, so they sit “on their edge” when importing in the slicer. You will need to re-orientate them on the bed before printing (I printed them with the number facing up).

Tip: Lightly sand the plates or enable ironing to ensure a smooth sliding while using the gauge.
