The lid compresses onto the edges of the PCB, holding the Pi safely in place. Two sliding clips hold the lid in place.
The case comes with openings for all ports and the top can be modified to expose the GPIO.
Should fit most models starting with the Pi 2B. I'm using it with a model 4B. A remix that allows for a fan for the 5th generation Pi should be doable, but I don't have one to test-fit.
Laser-Cutting
Use the supplied & cleaned up PDF file. The DWG file is only added to satisfy the requirements of the platform.
Material
- Y2 mm birch plywood
- some wood- or superglue
- optional for assembly: painters tape
Assembly
Painters tape can help you secure the pieces while the glue is drying! You will not need much glue!
- Lightly sand all pieces, removing grime from the laser
- Glue the lid: two side pieces fit into it
- Glue the base: It's four sides (two with cutouts), two inner railings, and the bottom. Watch out for the correct orientation, see mockups and your Pi for reference. The inner railings lock into the bottom plate, the long sides slot into place right along the railings.
- Wait for everything to dry
- Carefully insert your Pi. To close the lid you might have to slide it a bit around. The SD cutout on the bottom may help with that. The sides of the lid should not interfere with the GPIO-pin headers, it's a close fit, but it works.
- Keep the lid in place by inserting the two keys that slot into the bits sticking out the top panel.
