Printable clamps for making pinch rods. Pinch rods are indispensable for checking the square of drawers, cabinet frames or any other box. Using pinch rods instead of measuring tools is faster and more accurate when setting jigs, fences and stop blocks. There are many plans for shop made clamps on the web but I was unable to find a 3d printed model.
Build Instructions
There are two plates. One with a single wide clamp for short pinch rods and the other dual clamps for longer rods. There are two styles of knobs and the threads are the same you can mix and match knobs as you prefer. I have printed these in both PLA and PETG. I would recommend PETG if you are going to leave this in a garage or other place without climate control.
Making the Rods
The wooden rods can be any length you find useful for the work you do. The clamp is designed for rods that are 0.75" x 0.25" and should be made from a straight grained hardwood. The 3/4" inch dimension is more important than the 1/4" as the clamp can make up for some difference in thickness. You should also bevel one end to get into tight corners.
