NOTE: 2025.08.22 - I'm still on the fence about whether this works and I just have low quality pogo pins or not. Please continue at your discretion.

-------

Got an Ember mug for Xmas last year and one of the coaster pins failed within 5 months… This is a common and well-known problem that's thankfully rather easy to fix (iFixit repair instructions).

Thing is… I knew the pins would likely fail again. So I made this “coaster for the coaster” - spacer? - to, hopefully, reduce and keep condensation away from the pins. The catch is you have to replace the pins with longer ones and once you do, you can't use it without this coaster or some sort of spacer because the pins won't retract all the way down. I used 6mm long pins (these ones).

Proceed at your own risk. Doing this was a no-brainer for me since the coaster wasn't working already, but you may not want to do this on a working coaster as you risk damaging it permanently.

2025.05.31: I've been testing this out for a few days and so far it seems to do its job. I plan to stick it to the coaster using thin double sided tape once I feel comfortable that it's doing it's job. That said, I haven't had any issues with it coming off when I lift the mug.

2025.08.22: Uploaded a thinner version. The pogo pins I used don't seem to be great quality and have lost some of their springiness over time. To combat this, I made this thinner version.
