I needed an oil mist filter for my vacuum pump while waiting on an actual proper one. So I put this together in an afternoon. The idea is that there is no path for oil droplets to splash out, and the oil mist has to go through the top vent, which can be filled with activated alumina. As for how well it actually works, I'm really not sure.
The cap is held on by 2 little M4 screws. Depending on the size of activated alumina, you might need to put a piece of mesh to stop the beads from going through the bottom.
