Drinkwell 360 Clip

Sadly the clip that holds the tower down to the basin on the Drinkwell 360 water fountain is quite easy to break while doing basic cleaning if you are not to careful removing it gently. Therefore I designed a printable replacement so that you don't need to buy a new one if it breaks. It attaches to the base in the same way as the original but it is both stronger and attaches a bit less firm to make removal a breeze.

If this file helps at least one more person repair their fountain I'll be happy that my efforts weren't wasted. I would also love to see your prints so feel free to post a make of this model.

How to print it?

Load in the STL into your slicer of choice and leave it side down so it will be as strong as possible. No support is needed as the file is flat and has been designed with FDM in mind, however do add a brim or “mouse ears” as the hook is small and can warp off the bed. Use a 0.2mm standard profile and make sure you print with three walls and 15% as we do want some flex in the resulting part.

Filament choice

Do NOT use fiber-filled filament when printing this part as we don't want raw fiber strands into the water which is not desirable. You can use PLA but should stay away from it if possible as the part may slowly deform over time due to the part being subject to constant tension. I suggest using a good PETG or ABS/ASA as they provide some flex and the long term stability that we need. I used PrimaSelect ABS as it is a quality material that I could color-match well with the fountain.

Post processing

This item is going to be in a watering fountain for pets so it is very important to remove any stringing or debris from the print. In my case I used a lighter to remove any stringing and washed and rinsed it well before installing it.

Installation and removal

Snaps onto the rim just like the original and can be removed again by pulling out on the bottom of the tab. Double check that the tower is centered if it doesn't snap in correctly. You should notice that it doesn't snap on as hard as the original, this is intentional but don't worry cause once all three are attached your pet should not be able to remove the clips by mistake.

Can I share the files or sell prints?

No, the file is strictly for personal use in order to replace parts of your own or a friends broken fountain. If despite this you're still interested in creating your own derivative of the file or if you are looking into printing the model for sale you can contact me and I may allow it on a case-by-case basis. Respect the license as a lot of effort and testing was involved
