This print is designed to dial in the exact tolerance you need between parts in both the vertical and horizontal plane. This is important as 3d printers stack layers and the dimension and tolerance will be slightly different depending if horizontal or vertical. Tolerance and fitment is a bit of an art form in 3d design and this print will help you greatly when you need to decide how much space to add between parts.
Use the denoted size to determine how much tolerance to add to your project depending on how tight or loosely you want the parts to fit together. The sizes range from 0.5 to 2.0mm. These sizes denote how much larger the hole is compared to the pin.
For example: a hole denoted as .25 is the wide/length of the gauge pin + 0.25mm for the square size. The circle hole is the diameter of the gauge pin + 0.25mm.
This print contains deep holes that you can store the gauge pins in. Two gauge pins should be printed. One laying flat on the print bed and the other standing up vertically. This project also contains a satisfyingly fitting lid (which used the tolerance block to get the perfect fitment). The lid should be printed with the text facing the print bed.
No supports are needed. Optionally, you can do a single color swap near the end to get the text in a different color, no MMU required.
This print is compatible with the gridfinity standard and fits into a 3x1 space.
