Version 2 improves on my original locking stand in several ways.

  • Much more freedom of movement with 15 degree increments of movement, as opposed to the 45 degree increments of V1.
  • More sturdy locking mechanism with very little sag.
  • No need to flex parts to connect everything (no more breaking from this!), it just screws together.
  • Can support more weight!
  • Works with PLA … mostly.
    • The ball joint arm will suffer from material creep with PLA and will loosen after a bit.

Everything just screws together easily. To adjust the position, just turn one of the knobs about half a turn to loosen it, adjust to the desired position, then re-tighten. It doesn't require very much force on the knob to lock it in.

All the print settings have been configured in the 3mf file but if you want to set these manually, here are the important ones:

Layer Height0.1mm
Walls3
Wall GeneratorArachne

I've included a bunch of extra bits that aren't strictly necessary but the knobs with handles plate make it easier to adjust but they don't fit in the hole on the base due to space limitations.

Included connectors for scaled up sizes - 125%, 150%, 175%, 200% & 250%

If you'd like a size not included, please let me know and I'll add it.

There are a couple of extra bases, but the biggest is only really needed for 200% scale and up.

Note: Everything is interchangeable, and the only part that is different for any scaled variation is the dummy connector piece that goes in the hip socket..

Update: I changed the ball joint to a proper one, I didn't like the original one. Also broke everything out into separate 3mf files for ease of use.

Update 2: I added some stiffer arms for larger scales and added a larger ball joint for 250% which has more grip.
