ABOUT

I have two HTC Vive Base Stations mounted in my room for VR gaming, but I was worried about exposing them to dust and sunlight from my window. I designed this cover to be simple to print and easily removable.

INSTRUCTIONS

To print, download the file, import to your slicer, and slice with the default orientation - surface face down. You can use any material; I used Hatchbox PLA for simplicity. My print time for one cover came to about 4 hours 30 minutes.

When I finished printing a cover, I added a piece of foam to the inside to cushion the base station. I used a piece a little less than 10mm thick. Then I added an elastic strap, about 20mm thick, to help the cover hold onto the base station. I sewed the strap in a loop around the cover's side fastener, then printed a simple slide lock buckle to tension the other end. I found this one (https://www.printables.com/model/914295-slide-lock-buckle/files) worked just fine for my strap; you will want to pick a buckle that works best for your strap material.

The cover and strap work well when the base station is mounted from the bottom. The strap needs to wrap around the mount when it is attached from the back - thus my choice in elastic.

Note that the width of the cover accounts for the foam pad at the bottom of the base station. The cover will fit when oriented with the side fasteners parallel to the base station sides, but it will not fit when the side fasteners are parallel to the top and bottom of the base station.

This has not been tested with other VR model base stations. It may fit, but I make no guarantees!
