Hi there,

Here is, I think, really cool Gonggi dice box model (known from Squid game).
Hope you'll like it!

About

Gonggi dice model

The box is designed for this Gonggi dice set model: https://www.printables.com/model/1133912-gonggi-squid-game

Why another Gonggi dice box model?

To be honest … IMHO all gonggi dice box models I found were king of meeh… either not really nice or not holding the dice safe (I printed one such model and when I turned it upside down the dice fell down). I really wanted some nice box which kids can put into backpack or pocket and dice stay in it.

Benefits of this box?

  1. Optimal size (It has just the size it needs to store the dice set.)
  2. Safe (Gonggi dice will never falls out.)
  3. Look (The box looks really cool with tasteful GONGGI DICE text on the cover.)

Printing instructions

Basic

  • Filament: PLA, PETG, ASA, … I used PETG.
  • Nozzle diameter: 0.25, 0.4, 0.6, 0.8 should be fine. I used 0.6.
  • Layer height: basically any range from 0.10 to 0.32 should be ok. I used 0.25.
  • Other (recommended):
    • Infill: 15% gyroid.
    • Perimeters: 3-4.

I am mostly printing functional models and using almost always PETG 99% (due to quality/price) so I printed the box from PETG using 0.6 nozzle and as you can see the box does look quite good.

Color change (optional but recommended)

In order to get nice color contrast as you can see on the picture I recommend changing color in PrusaSlicer (or slicer you are using):

  1. Bottom box part
    • Based on layer height you should switch color twice:
      • first change before printer finished top surface for dice so it has contrast color compared to holes.
      • second change on such layer so the remaining layer count equals layer count printed at the beginning so the height of first and third part would be symetrical.

    • See example I used for my print here. I used layer height 0.25 which gave me 92 layers in total. I switched color first on layer 30 and then again I switched the original (first color) back on layer 62.

Of course with different layer height you will need to recalculate but the point is to have same amount of layers  at the beginning as well as at the end so the result looks symetrical. But it is really up to your taste at the end… so this is just my recommendation.

  2. Top box part
    • This time you switch the color only once and the right moment the layer where text starts to be printed. See example of how I printed it with layer height 0.25. I switched color on layer 10. Again if you use different layer height the switch layer would be different but the point is to have different color when text is starting to be printed.

Happy printing!
