I've designed a small improvement for the METROVENT DN75 ventilation flowmeter.
The Problem:
The METROVENT flowmeter is a fantastic device for accurately measuring and balancing residential ventilation systems. However, the two small, white locking clips it comes with from the factory can be easily lost, especially on a construction site or when working in tight spaces like attics or utility shafts. Losing one of these clips can compromise the secure assembly of the device.
The Solution:
This single-piece locking ring is my answer to this problem. It completely replaces the two separate clips with a single, robust, and easy-to-handle ring.
Advantages:
Single-Piece Design: No more tiny parts to misplace. Only one component to keep track of.
Quick Installation: The ring can be installed and removed much faster and more easily than the individual clips. Simply align it and press it into place.
Secure Fit: The design ensures a firm and secure grip on the flowmeter's components, just like the original parts.
Durable and Reusable: Printed from strong materials, this ring can be used countless times.
This accessory is ideal for ventilation system installers or for anyone who wants a more practical and secure solution for their METROVENT flowmeters.
3D Printing Instructions:
Recommended Material: PETG or ASA for good mechanical strength and some flexibility. PLA might work, but it could be too brittle for repeated clipping.
Layer Height: 0.2mm for a good balance between quality and speed.
Infill: 25-30% is sufficient to give it good strength.
Supports: no
Assembly:
Print the part and carefully remove the support material.
Assemble the components of the METROVENT flowmeter.
Align the locking ring over the flowmeter, matching the cutouts on the ring with the tabs on the housing.
Press it down firmly until it clicks and snaps securely into place, locking the assembly.
