Inspired by 3Demon’s 3D-Printed Violin (Thingiverse: 2752036), this remix simplifies the build process and improves structural integrity. We unified the body into a single printable piece and redesigned the neck to be printed in two symmetrical halves, making it easier to print and assemble.
🛠 Modifications & Features
- One-Piece Body – All body components are merged into a single, solid print.
- Split Neck – Redesigned for printing in two mirrored halves for easy alignment and strong bonding.
- Tailpin – Modified and split in half; print two and glue them together.
- Print Volume Requirement – You'll need a minimum print volume of 350 × 350 × 400 mm (for the full body and the neck halves).
- Recommended Print Settings:
- Walls: 5
- Infill: 40%
- Material: PLA (recommended for stability and tone)
- For the body, you need supports for the base
🎧 Sound & Playability
Yes, this is a functional acoustic violin! While it doesn’t replace a traditional wooden violin, it’s resonant, playable, and an excellent demonstration of how digital fabrication makes instrument building more accessible.
🔧 Assembly Tips
- Use strong adhesive (like super glue) for bonding the neck halves.
- Print neck pieces on a glass bed for flat, flush surfaces when joining.
- You'll need to purchase or print the remaining components:
- Pegs
- Tailpiece
- Bridge
- Chinrest (there are printable options!)
- Strings
