## 🇬🇧 English Description

# 🔐 Smart Lock Offset Adapter with 75% Gear Reduction (Tested with Nuki)

## ✨ Short Description

Adapter for smart locks on outward-opening doors – with 75% gear reduction for increased torque. Tested with Nuki Smart Lock Go.

---

## 🔧 Purpose

This mechanical adapter allows the use of a smart lock (e.g. Nuki) on doors that **open outward** – where the lock body would otherwise collide with the door frame.

### 📐 Offset for Clearance

The adapter **shifts the smart lock axis** laterally and diagonally, so it no longer sits directly above the cylinder. This creates enough space to allow operation even in tight installations.

The design was tested with a **Nuki Smart Lock Go**, but should be compatible with many other smart locks, provided the mechanical connection to the cylinder matches.

### ⚙ 75% Gear Reduction

Inside the housing are **three gears** providing a **75% reduction ratio**. This has two main benefits:

- Compensates for the added mechanical resistance due to the offset

- Helps operate **stiff or high-resistance locks** more easily

The trade-off is a slower rotation, but significantly increased torque.

---

## 🚪 Door Hinge Side

The included models are designed for **left-hinged doors** (hinges on the left when viewed from outside).

If your door is **right-hinged**, you may need to **mirror the parts in your slicer** – either along the Z-axis or using an option like “Mirror on X-axis” depending on your slicer software.

---

## 🧩 Compatibility & Customization

The design is fully parametric and was created in Onshape. You can view, copy, and modify the CAD model as needed:

## 🛠 Printing & Assembly

**Recommended Materials:**

- **Nylon** for gears and key (high durability and good sliding properties)

- **PETG** for all other parts (robust and warp-resistant)

**Print Settings:**

- Layer height: 0.2 mm

- Perimeters: at least 4 (especially for the gears)

- Infill: ~30%, cubic pattern

- No supports needed with proper orientation

The adapter consists of several parts that are easy to assemble after printing.

The housing cover is fastened using **6 M3×12 mm countersunk screws**.

The entire assembly can be mounted to the lock cylinder housing using **double-sided adhesive tape**.

Due to the variety of door shapes and materials, no universal mounting method is provided.

The smart lock itself is attached using its own mounting plate on top of the adapter.

For improved movement:

- Use **PTFE spray** inside the housing

- Apply **graphite powder** to the gears

The center gear has a recess for a **608ZZ ball bearing (8×22×7 mm)**.

If available, you should definitely use one – it significantly improves the gearbox performance.

## 🇩🇪 Beschreibung auf Deutsch

# 🔐 Smart Lock Adapter mit Versatz und 75 % Untersetzung (getestet mit Nuki)

## ✨ Kurzbeschreibung

---

## 🔧 Zweck
