This a box for distribution board (PCB) of the "Direct Drive Upgrade Kit" for theTronXY X5SA Pro printer.****
I needed this because the gantry holder/gantry plate of the upgrade kit, which holds this PCB originally, cannot be used with the HeroMe Gen7 printhead (there are absoultely no mounting holes for the HM7 basic holder on that gantry plate), so I had to use the original gantry plate of the stock X5SA Pro printer - which has no such PCB and therefore no place to mount the distrubtion PCB.
This box mounts on the back of this original gantry plate instead of the original cable chain of the stock printer - the upgrade kit used a totally different cable management, so this cable chain is not used any more and the 2 mounting holes are available. Beware: these mounting holes are threaded - forM3.5 screws! (not M3 as all the rest on the printer) - be sure to retain the original scrtews, M3.5 is rather hard to come by.
Several different mounting options are provided, depending on your use case and preferences; e.g. the type of HM7, Extruder etc
The PCB is mounted on raised columns, use M3 5.7 heat inserts for that. The lid is fixed with 4 screws, as well use M3 heat inserts for that (holes for the lid are 15 mm deep, so basically any M3 screw will do).
Print Settings
Rafts:
No
Supports:
Yes
Resolution:
0,2 (0.14 - 0.28)
Infill:
45%
Notes:
I printed this in ABS (Geeetech ABS+), just because the spool was already loaded for all the other HeroMe parts. Should work in PLA, PETG, ASA, ... as well, there is no mechanical strain on the box.
For all HeroMe parts, I use
- out layer height: 0.14mm
- inner layer height (inner perimeters and infill). 0.28mm
- line width 0.6mm
- 45% infill (not really needed here though)
- adaptive cubic infill
- automatic tree support with lean trees, on buildplate only, "only critical" NOT checked
and two postprocessing scripts in OrcaSlicer 2.3.0
- https://github.com/TengerTechnologies/Smoothificator
- https://github.com/TengerTechnologies/Bricklayers in this version https://github.com/TengerTechnologies/Bricklayers/blob/main/NonPlanarInterlockingWalls.py
- settings see file "orca-settings.txt"
The .3MF is for OrcaSlicer 2.3.0, the _generic.3mf is exported from OrcaSlicer als "Generic 3MF", whatever that means.
The STEP file is created by imprting the 3MF into FreeCAD 1.0 and then coverted from the mesh to a solid and exported as "STEP with colors", the FCStd file is the FreeCAD file from that conversion.
STL is exported from OrcaSlicer. Go for the 3MF if possible.
OpenSCAD (2025 version)
I used the OpenSCAD script listed as "Remix sources" and changed the fonts used for the text (last paragraph in script), on Linux. You have to change those fonts to something thad is available on your computer and use OpenSCAD locally.
If you don't like the texts, you have to use OpenSCAD locally installed, the Thingiverse customizer will NOT work.
