Opium3D makes digital manufacturing accessible in resource-limited environments—such as schools, community centers, or during humanitarian missions. It removes the complexity typically associated with 3D printing by allowing users to start a print simply by scanning an NFC tag—no technical knowledge required.
It is based on Raspberry PI Zero 2 WH, and PN532 NFC readar.
The product has module with NFC reader, and Octoprint, which can be regularly synchronized with a remote server, but can also work fully offline and synchronize using USB drive.

We are a very fresh startup. If you are interested to try and test the module, write us on [email protected] . We are interested specifically in NGOs and companies in distributed manufacturing.
Currently we have tested the device with Original Prusa MINI+ and Origina Prusa i3 MK3S.

Hardware Preparation
Pinout
Before installing the software, all hardware components must be correctly connected to the Raspberry Pi. Use the following diagram (BCM pin numbering).
If you are using PN523 connected via I2C, three buttons and RGB LED
PN523 NFC Sensor - need to be set to I2C:
SDA <--> GPIO 2
SCL <--> GPIO 3
3.3V <--> 3.3V (Pin 1)
Emitter of the PN2222A <--> GND (RPI). (PIN6)
Collector <--> GND pin of the PN532 module.
Base of the PN2222A through a resistor (1kΩ) <--> GPIO 4
Buzzer:
GND <--> GND (PIN 39)
+ <--> GPIO 26
Buttons:
1 <--> GPIO 23
2 <--> GPIO 24
3 <--> GPIO 25
GND <--> GND (PIN 20)
RGB LED:
R <--> GPIO 27
G <--> GPIO 17
B <--> GPIO 22
GND <--> GND (PIN 9)
Module is connected to power and 3D printer using the USB cable.
Button functions
- Button 1: Short press - cancel print, Long press - reconnect wifi
- Button 2: Short press - forced sync, Long press - sync files from USB
- Button 3: Short press - toggle offline mode, Long press - admin mode toggle (printer and gcode compatibility check off)
LED states
- Green - ALL OK, ready to print/printing
- Yellow blinking - Warning, waiting for printer to connect, waiting for printer to finish the job
- Error - Offline sync error, Error wifi configuration
