A robust/enhanced knob design for gas grilles that allow flames to inadvertently impinge on the control knobs.

The added hardware in the design should allow you to print the grill knobs in say PETG (not PLA) in lieu of using more exotic filaments such as ASA. This “extra” hardware includes the following:
- A 2" OD x .265" ID stainless steel fender washer to conduct radiant heat back toward the heat source.
- A 10-24 x .5" metallic set screw to afix the knob to the grille shafts. By virtue of this set screw manufacturer's tolerances on the shaft OD and “D” shape cut become irrelevant.
- A pair of 10-24 x .5 “ long socket head cap screws. Those have the necessary .313” maximum head diameter to clear the grill shat.
- A pair of .203 ID x .375 OD x .040/,90" thick ceramic washers to minimize heat conductance.
As in a lot of my designs tapping of holes after printing is required - in this design 10-24UNC-2B (3x). The receiving hole sizes ‘as printed’ should be in the range of .144 to .1495 inch. If holes are undersize as printed then drill them to size prior to tapping operation.
Finally, refer to 2D drawing here for dimensions of the two mounting holes you must drill in the fender washer.
