This is the base module for a modular hydroponic NFT (Nutrient Film Technique) gutter system. I designed it because square rain gutters are not readily available where I live—and when they are, they only come in 1 m segments at almost the same price as printing my own. With this design, I can build a hydroponic gutter that perfectly fits my space and plant needs.
The base is designed for quick and easy printing without supports. Each module has an integrated glue surface, so it can be securely bonded or slotted together when connecting multiple sections. If there’s any minor leaking, a thin coat of clear spray lacquer on the outside will seal it.
This system is suitable for growing:
Leafy greens like lettuce, kale, and spinach
Herbs such as basil, mint, parsley, and cilantro
Small fruiting plants like strawberries or dwarf peppers
Other compact crops that thrive in NFT hydroponics
