This is a module with an integrated bell siphon, designed to work with the Modular NFT Hydroponic Gutter Base. It allows you to convert the system from continuous-flow NFT into an ebb and flow (flood and drain) hydroponic setup.
I developed this modular “raingutter” system because square gutters are not readily available where I live—and when they are, they only come in 1 m segments at almost the same cost as printing my own. By designing my own parts, I can build a fully customizable hydroponic system with the flexibility to switch growing techniques.
The bell siphon automatically drains water once the flood level is reached, giving roots cycles of nutrient exposure and aeration. This makes it possible to grow plants that prefer alternating wet/dry conditions.
Suitable crops include:
Leafy greens like lettuce, kale, and spinach
Herbs such as basil, cilantro, mint, parsley
Small fruiting plants (e.g. strawberries, peppers)
Experimental crops that benefit from periodic drying cycles
Features:
Quick, support-free print
Bell siphon sized for reliable flooding & draining
Fits directly into the modular gutter base
Works with TPU seals, silicone, or glue for watertight assembly
Easy to integrate into existing NFT layouts
Other parts in this system (separate designs):
Base module (main gutter body)
Blank top plate
Single-hole (55 mm) top plate
Multi-hole top plates
Connection clips
TPU seals
End caps
Feed and drain caps
With this bell siphon module, your modular hydroponic “raingutter” system can run as NFT, ebb & flow, or a hybrid, depending on what you want to grow.
