Introduction

Recently i ordered the Prusa Core One Kit. The assembly was fun, the machine works great. Last night my door handle fell off - maybe I did not clean it properly.

However, there are holes prepared in the orange metal handle as well as in the acrylic door part. They allow to mount the handle with 2x M3 screws.

A nut would not look that good, so I decided to design this small part. It has the right dimension and angle to fit behind the handle. You can screw with a M3x8 or M3x10 torx screw from your spare parts.

Enjoy, if you prefer two screws over doublesided tape as I do :)

Features

  • No brass insert needed - bores have a triangular shape, just screw into the material. It will fit! You won't disassemble it this often.
  • Finger-friendly fillets for a nice grip and an aesthetic design
  • Sufficient support surface for an even force distribution on the acrylic door panel
  • Shorter version available! prints in <20 minutes with less than 6g filament!

Assembly

  1. Remove the glued metal handle gently,  if not fallen of already
  2. Remove any left adhesive (with patience and fingernails, I don't know what happens with IPA etc)
  3. Place the acrylic door panel into the groove of the handle
  4. Fix the handle in the lower hole with an M3 screw to prevent it from slipping.
  5. Place the wedge into the groove of the handle at the upper bore.
  6. Screw an M3 screw from the back directly into the plastic of the printed part; the screw head rests on the metal of the handle.
  7. Remove the lower fixing screw, position the second wedge, and carefully fasten it as described above.

Print Settings

  • PETG will fit great
  • No support needed
  • Infill can be from 15% to 20%
  • Use 3 Perimeters at least

Prusa Slicer Files available!

Edits & updates

  • 2025-09-29 description updated, short version added
  • 2025-10-12 longer version now with grip notch
  • 2025-10-26 added long, short and grip version prepared for M3 heat insert!

Heat Inserts Versions

As some times wished, I've added models prepared for M3 heat inserts. This can be handy if you'd like to print in ASA oder other durable materials where the screw might cut to tight into. Disclaimer: I don't have heat inserts for testing, so I could not verify those versions. Heat insert hole is D4x6,7mm
