Avoid pesky doorstep interruptions with style.
SHOO is an elegant, ESP32-powered smart door system that manages unwanted visitors—no interactions required. It leverages your iPad as a display, automatically triggered by smart home events, and presents you with four physical buttons to respond as you choose. This project combines Home Assistant, a Unifi Protect doorbell camera, and MQTT to take control of your doorstep and send those solicitors packing with as little effort as possible.

Key Features
Automatic iPad Control
Uses Bluetooth HID (keyboard) functionality: wakes your iPad, opens the UniFi Protect app when someone approaches, then locks it when they leave.
4 Physical Buttons
Each button corresponds to a different response level—gentle to firm “No Soliciting” messages.
You can fully customize your own button designs using the included blank_key.step file.
For backlit buttons, print the first layers in a solid color and the remaining layers in clear filament to allow light to shine through.
RGB LED Lighting
Six WS2812B LEDs add colorful, customizable lighting purely for visual flair.
Smart Home Integration
Works with Home Assistant via MQTT and webhook triggers for automation.
