This is a remixed version of Paul Poley's excellent Screwless Wall Plate model that has been remade and extended to allow switches to be installed into shallow switch boxes like you'd find in old houses. The model comes in two depths, 10mm and 20mm, though this can be changed within the Fusion 360 file to any depth you desire (change the depth parameter to customize this).

To use, print out one mounting plate, one spacer, and one faceplate. Attach the mounting plate to the front of the switch with two ¼" #6-32 machine screws, attach the switch to the wall using longer #6-32 machine screws (these are common screws and can be purchased from your local hardware store readily), then slide the faceplate over the assembly. A lip at the top of the faceplate will catch the baseplate, then friction will hold it once it's in place.

The inspiration for this, and the explanation to questions quite a few of you probably have from the header photo, was to install an Inovelli smart dimmer into an old switch box without a neutral. While Inovelli switches can run in non-neutral modes, the dimmers that they bundle with their fan canopy module can't be connected to inductive loads like ceiling fans (???), so I had the idea to power it entirely via an external cord plugged into an outlet underneath and use Zigbee bindings to control the fan (I got the thumbs-up from my electrician to do this). While the models uploaded here don't have a cutout for a wire, there are two suppressed features in the Fusion file that will reenable it. You'll probably need to adjust the diameter of the cord you're using to fit accordingly. Also, use at least one or two zip ties on the inside as strain relief for the cable so it doesn't pull itself loose from the switch.
