I use calipers in my cubical and needed a place to keep them other than my desktop but was still within reach. This device hangs over my cubical wall and stores my calipers safely and visible.
I also have two pairs, one metal for accuracy and one plastic for measuring battery cells so I needed to expand its capability. Another co-worker wanted to hang his on his workbench that has a metal hutch, so I added two recesses on the back to house rare earth magnets.
The mortice and tenons are a snug fit so they hold well but you can glue or pin the pieces for better hold.
