Ladies and gentlemen, forget the original Benchy: that was just a print test. This is a voodoo ritual disguised as a boat. The purple hull isn’t just purple: it’s a sculpted vortex screaming “step into my parallel world or stay a boring standard Benchy printer.” The wooden deck? Not a deck, but a carpet of worn planks that creak even if you don’t step on them. The blue cabin? Not a cabin, but a door to another dimension—and trust me, you don’t want to know what’s on the other side.
And then there’s the sail. Beige, stitched with black thread, with a central button staring at you like your mother-in-law when you ask for seconds at dinner. It’s not a detail, it’s a warning: “Do you really want to keep printing normal Benchies?”.
This model isn’t just an object: it’s an experience. It’s a “hello, welcome to Coraline’s world, where even boats have existential crises.” And if Tim Burton saw it, he’d probably shiver… and then ask you for the STL files.
🧪 Print Specs
- Nozzle: 0.4 mm
- Layer height: 0.16 mm
- Print time: ~4 hours
- Material: ~50 g PLA
- Supports: yes, you need them (I know you hate them, but without them this sail collapses faster than your post-summer diet)
🎨 Painting Techniques (acrylics)
- Gray primer over the whole boat.
- Hull: deep purple base with lilac dry-brush to highlight sculpted swirls. Black wash in grooves for depth.
- Deck: brown wood with black washes and ochre dry-brush to simulate worn planks.
- Cabin: medium blue with darker shading in recesses and light blue dry-brush on edges.
- Sail (fabric effect):
- Beige base coat.
- Very diluted brown wash to simulate fibers and wear.
- Dry-brush with dirty white in diagonal strokes to mimic fabric weave.
- Black stitches painted freehand, thin and irregular.
- Central button: glossy black with light gray highlights for reflections.
- Finish: matte varnish to unify and give the “handcrafted gothic” look.
…And remember the Other Mother’s words: “Everybody’s got to have a little help sometimes.” …especially when it comes to painting cursed stitches and giant buttons.
