Video shown above is V0.1 and is no longer valid!

Current Version: V0.5 (updated October 6, 2025)

Changelog:

  • Increased thickness of band to add vertical rigidity without removing flexibility.
  • Replaced OEM toolhead cable chain post with it's own, tighter angle, 3D printed post
  • Total print now consists of 3 parts rather than two - two chains and the toolhead post.

Issues:

  • Currently the cable can slip out of the toolhead post if angled correctly
  • After wear & tear the cable will no longer consistently return to the channel

!!! DO NOT USE THIS YET !!! Posted simply for people to work off before I have a finalized release. Made using Shapr3D

An ultralight, BETA state (UNTESTED!) replacement cable chain for the Elegoo Centauri Carbon (for use with risers that feed the PTFE tube through the riser rather than the cable chain). It will eventually be released so the cable chain always move into the original side channel as the printer moves.

Current Weight in ABS @ 100% infill: 9.15 grams (OEM is 34 grams)

[ PRINT SETTINGS ]

Slicer: Elegoo Slicer

Material: ABS

Nozzle: 0.4mm

Layer Height: 0.2mm

Wall Loops: 20 (To give full infill!)

Bed: Textured B side - 105°C

Printing Temperature: 260°C

Detect Thin Walls: Yes

[ INSTRUCTIONS ]

  1. Print both Chain 1 & 2 with no rafts, brims, or supports, with detect small walls set to true.
  2. Let print fully cool before removing from bed - remove with scraper slowly working the corners up to prevent layer splitting, then submerge in cold water
  3. Prestress along bend points so it will fit along the original USB-C cable going to the toolhead.
  4. Remove existing, OEM ABS cable chain mount and all links up to the final one mounted to the head (you will need the OEM end link)
  5. Mount Chain 1 to the bracket holes of the original ABS cable chain
  6. Bend Chain 2 around the cable, overlapping the beginning with Chain 1
  7. Using the original screw for the end post that attaches to the toolhead, attach the new printed post to the toolhead (there should be roughly a 1" gap between the toolpost and chain 2 (doesn't have to be exact)
