This is my first FLASHFORGE. When buying it I did have several reservations but I decided to get it and the enclosure anyway since I couldn't really build anything this cheap. The first and most obvious problem was the gaping hole. Seems like an obvious oversight I am not sure why more people don't want this solved. So the first task was to close up the hole in the acrylic.
I remixed the pass-through stl from the wiki a couple of times. The first model I glued some TPU into the PLA which worked pretty good. The second version uses PC4-M10 Male Straight Pneumatic PTFE Tube Push Fitting Connector for 3D Printer 1.75mm Filament. I did not like either of these and felt it was kind of a waste. The last 2 versions are meant to be printed flat on the build plate for easy printing. You can either stick all the tubes through a smaller hole or print the one where you have to disconnect the tubes and put them through individually.
The one I ended up using was the Conduit window for bowden tube passthru separate.stl but I left the rest here for people to try.
I do not like the look of the thick top and I did not want the bowden tubes pushing against the sides or the top. The Flashforge fix was to make the enclosure taller but I think it is too tall already. I found the original design for the thin top and printed that. I put the holes near the back of my filler panel so the angle coming out of the IFS is not bent too far but yet controls the tubes well. When using my pass-through the tubes are held in a place by the angle and pressure which keeps them lower and do not rub.
Eventually I also removed the stubby tubes and have long ones now. I used a micro open end wrench to push down the bowden locks but I found this that I think would work fine (but haven't tried it yet.) The cereal boxes ended up under the printer on the next shelf down, they are just here for the picture. I am not happy with the rewinders, but they are working fine without them. This should keep the humidity down as my workspace typically is about 50% year round and filament likes 10-15%. However I found that the amazon bowden tubes are too restrictive for filament and went back to having them in the air for now.
I think I may need to print some TPU seals to go with this enclosure as it is still not very good. Also in the back there are 2 compartments and a vent that need to be sealed up, but I will look at those later.
I am still working on the camera mount which is not working well since with the infrared leds it is too large for the corner. I am running zmod for now until FF complies withe the GPL license. Final mods will be the aux and re-circulation fans. I plan on using the voron expander since FF gimped the MCU and removed all the connections to add the extras. And if FF won't comply with the GPL license I will replace the motherboard since I want open source.
The final issue is the CLOSED SOURCE IFS.
