I loved the design of CabbitCastle's modular wire spools, but I had a few issues that were probably specific with my printer? Could've been complete user error tbh.
One issue was that slightly over tightening the thread would cause the center of the spool to rip the thread right off the side.
The next issue was the holes never lining up with the sides and the spools center, which I know I could've just sanded down the little nubs on the original models sides, but I didn't really want to do that for every spool since I was making quite a few.
The last issue I had was I was always just too short of wire to get to the next hole, so I'd have a lot sticking out the side.
To solve all these issues I was having, I decided to redesign the model a bit while keeping it within the same dimensions as the original, creating a thinner threading that is easier to print, and stronger as it thickens the walls of the threading. I have yet to accidentally rip the threading off of any of the spools now, and found it takes quite a bit more effort to do so. I've also personally had the holes for the sides and center line up perfectly every time now! Hope it's the same for everyone else.
Lastly, I just added a 3rd hole to the sides.
PRINT SETTINGS
The threads are designed for a 0.2mm layer height, and I'd recommend 4 wall loops. That's all the important settings really.
SIDE NOTES
I am aware some parts from the original model are missing as I haven't remixed them yet. I plan to fix them up soon. In case I forget though or just haven't yet, just shoot me a message on here and I'll reply as soon as I can, and fix up the part for you.
I would share .step files, but I don't have them… I use Blender, even for CAD… Sorry about that. : )
