A quick Jack Skellington inspired Halloween trick or treat bucket. The design comes in three variations, with two handle designs. It can be used as a bucket, or a hanging lantern!
Bucket Options
- Single Color Thin Wall (~170 g) - Excellent lightweight and flexible option
- Single Color Thick Wall (~340 g) - Need something more robust? No problem, this is designed with a wall twice as thick, excellent candidate for multicolor prints.
- Thick Wall with Inserts (~320 g) - Print the eyes, nose, and mouth in a separate color and snap them in through the inside sockets. Excellent for special filaments (like glow in the dark!) and if you do not have a multi-color machine. Or leave the inserts out, and use it as an hanging lantern.
Handle Options
- Chain - Print 16 segments, snap them together, and clip it onto the bucket.
- Handle - Less industrious and more ergonomic. Combine with 3-4 chain segments on each side for a more comfortable handle. Great option for smaller hands.
Printing Recommendations
Bucket (All variations)
- 0.25 mm Layer Height
- Place bucket on the bottom, and point the face along the X axis.
- 0% infill
- 4 layers top/bottom/perimeter
- Organic supports, add support enforces to the bottom side of the top teeth.
- No support needed for chain connection loop.
- Supports are optional for the eye and nose sockets.
Inserts
- Print twice if using the the bucket with a face on the front and back side
- 0.25 mm Layer Height
- Arrange all inserts to be vertical
- 4 layers top/bottom/perimeter
- Organic supports
- You may need to add some support enforcers to help hold the parts in place.
Chain & Handle
- 0.25 mm Layer Height
- 15% Infill
- 4 layers top/bottom/perimeter
Assembly
I originally printed and designed this for the Core One. It should print on a MK3, 4, 4S just fine. The tolerances on all the parts assume a 0.25mm layer height. You really do not need to go lower as there is not much detail in the design.
Make sure you clear all support material if you printed the insert version of the bucket. You may need to scrap the edges of the inserts with a knife to knock off any extruding layer lines. Otherwise, all the inserts should pop into the recesses through the interior of the bucket.
When adding in the mouth insert, start by pressing in the center and working your way out.
Each chain link has a small cut at the end of each link. The link will flex enough for you to open the link and slide it over the next link.
I recommend adding a dab of CA glue along the seams of the insert and bucket for added hold.
