Aviation Desktop Organizer

Being a professional pilot myself, I love aviation gadgets. I am a 3D printing enthousiast too so I made some things for the aviation in the past including some gadgets like wall clocks, desktop clocks, gust locks etc.
Once I saw like a part of a cockpit, containing secret drawers hiding some bottles of boose.
This brought me to the idea to develop the DeskTop Organiser. With some clock mechanisms hanging around I incorporated a clock in the Altimeter instrument.

The making:

Due to the size a XL printer is required. I suggest to use PETG for the outside skin and inner structure if your desktop is exposed to direct sunlight. PLA might deform. For the drawers you can use whatever PLA, PET, maybe you have some nearly empty spools hanging around. No supports required except paint-on supports for the tooth connection between skin and structure.

 For the instrument gages you need, white, black, green and red filament for optimum look. All the coloring is done with Prusa slicer Multi Material Painting (Smart Filling).

 BOM:

-               For the skin and inner structure I suggest PETG(Black Matt) 0,20 mm SPEED, 15% Infill

-               For the instruments PETG or PLA (Black Matt) for the airspeed indicator White, green and red of the same material. For the instrument faces you can use a more detailed setting like 0,15mm STRUCTURAL 

-               For the drawers you can use PLA 0,20mm SPEED, 15% Infill

-               Clock mechanism you can find easaly at Amazon or Ali for less then 10 €

-               I ordered the the instrument lenses (76mmx 2mm) at “Kunstofplaten.be” they delivered in less then 24Hrs.

-               16 Bolts and selflocking nuts M4x20 (Preferable black) to attach the Instruments tot he drawers.

-               4 Bolts selftapping to attach the outer skin to the inner structure.

-               Super glue to glue the skin tot he bottom.
