Do you also find it so anoying that when you are done with your lathe you find stock for days underneath your bed?
That's because the chips and dust go into the hole, you miss some when vacuuming and your holes can get clogged or the dust will fall underneath.
So I made a blank spoilboard with only holes needed for the lathe, the holes stay clean :).
I made it 0.5 mm thick, it's like a thick foil, but you can make it thicker (scale in slicer), but I don't see why it's just for keeping dust out the holes.
