Recently i got spooked sitting next to my printer and hearing an awful sound. My filment dryer which is connected to my printer failed in rolling the filament out because of the lack of weight on my spool.
Filaments rolling on a roller are bound by it by gravity and their weight and if it gets too light the filament might move and get stuck on the walls or roller. So you can use these inside of your spool to add some weight to prevent them from slipping using only AAA batteries.
