Rich's hinge was exactly what I needed to make ScottWolf's SKADIS Mod work for my CORE One, but I found installing the hinge to the CORE One frame to be difficult due to the limited interior access, dark back corner, and dark colored screws I chose. Plus, I didn't like the idea of dropping small parts inside my printer when I inevitably lost one of the M3 nuts required. So I decided to make a single large plate to accept all 3 of the M3 screws from the hinge, with no nuts needed.

Hardware Required

M3 screws of your chosen length from Rich's model; I used M3 x 8

Material

I used Prusament Galaxy Black PLA to match the frame; a bright color (such as Prusa Orange) may make it easier to position the plate. I think PLA will be fine even though it's inside the chamber, but I've not tested it at high chamber temps yet. If you routinely print using high chamber temps, consider a tougher material such as PETG or ASA.

Printing Tips

  • I've provided a project file with the plate in the recommended position, with the side featuring small bevels on the holes facing the print sheet. If you use a smooth sheet, this will give the plate a very smooth surface to sit against the frame.
  • You may need to rotate the model 45º if your plate is smaller than the one in the project file.
  • The default print settings are fine, and no supports are required.

Assembly Tips

  • The holes are fairly snug. It's best to cut threads in the plate before you try assembling everything to your printer.
  • The side with the small bevels on the holes is intended to face the frame of the printer. The bevels are to help you properly position the plate once the screws are partially inserted through the frame.
