The Problem
The original design uses a rubber band to apply pressure. I found that as the spool empties and becomes significantly lighter, the rubber band no longer provides enough force. This allows the spool to slip on the lower roller, especially during fast filament rewinds (retractions), leading to print failures.
My Solution
To solve this, I have completely rebuilt the pressure base to incorporate a coil spring. This spring applies a constant, reliable downward force on the roller arm, ensuring the spool remains firmly engaged with the drive mechanism, no matter how much filament is left.
Key Improvements in this Remix:
Spring-Loaded Tension: Designed specifically for a 6mm (diameter) x 10mm (length) spring.
Improved Roller: The roller has been modified for a snug, precise fit on the axle, eliminating wobble.
Consistent Pressure: The spring solves the "light spool" problem, preventing slippage during retractions.
