Glowing Eye Bubble Dome

Description

So, each year the family and I make Halloween decorations for our golf carts so my fat butt can drive around while my kids trick or treat. This year we did Jurassic park and the dinosaurs needed a little more fright. So, we decided to print transparent red domes and put little led lights behind them to make them glow. We love how they turned out and figure we would share.

The model was not hard to design, and it is so easy that I usually would not even share it (cause anyone could make it), but it was a pain to get supports to work well and the slicers where no help. So, I built supports into the design. You will find models with and without.

Oh, we also painted them white on the inside before putting the lights in, because we found it diffused the light nicely. We used the included centering jig to drill through the plastic sheets, we painted the dinos on, in just the right spot for the light to evenly light up the eye. Just place the jig where you want, mark around the outside circle and inside the inner one, drill out the inner circle, then place the dome inside the outer circle (we used super glue), and the attach the light (we taped it to the back of the sheet with the LED sticking through so we could change them out when the batteries die). 

I wish I had taken more pictures, they turned out awesome.

Assembly

Just break off the supports, paint inside (if you want diffused look) and stick a light in. If you are drilling through material to attach the dome and light to (like we did) there is a center jig file you can use to get the positioning right.
