This is a drilling template for 145mm wide planks (28mm high), with 45mm wide studs underneath. The lumber sizes are Swedish.
The vertical part gets press-fitted to the plate, and is placed around each stud.
The holes are 10, 20 and 30mm from the edges of the plank, depending on your preference. To avoid mistakes, try covering the holes you are not using with tape.
The hole size is slightly larger than 4mm, since the deck screws I use are 4.5x55mm.
The template helps one not think too much when predrilling the planks.
