GIVE YOUR INTERVIEW GAME THE UPGRADE IT DESERVES!
The RØDE Wireless GOII microphones are amazing. The compatible stick, that RØDE sells? Less so. First of all, it is boring black. Second of all, the wind shield is not aligned with the brand YOU represent. But man, it just feels right to interview someone with a microphone stick.
Which is why I decided to make a custom version!
This microphone is designed for the RØDE Wireless GOII model of lavalier microphones, and is compatible with the gen 3 (and with some tinkering, probably a lot of other lavalier microphones), even if the mount is a bit tight around the clip.
NOTE: You will need two M8 nuts and bolts for this build!
Parts
The print contains the following parts:
- Stick: Hollow with space for an M8 bolt.
- Stick insert: Goes into the stick on top of the M8 bolt.
- Flag: Core of the assembly. Can hold four decal plates. Contains two M8 nuts.
- Flag lid: Closes the Flag when decals have been inserted.
- Mount: Holds the lavalier microphone, and is screwed onto the flag (lid). Includes space for an M8 bolt.
- Decal: Plates that slides into the sides of the flag. Add a logo, a statement, a signature. You decide!
NOTE: The decal is just a blank plate. You can add your whatever to it in your CAD software. Leave a margin of 1 mm at the top and bottom, and 1.75 mm at the right and left edges.
Printing instructions
The print is pretty straightforward in most cases. These are the specs I've sliced with:
Printer: Prusa MK4
Nozzle: 0.4 mm
Settings: Default (15% infill, 0.2 mm layer height, etc.)
The only unique thing, is that you have to insert two breaks when you print the flag.
The breaks have to be inserted at layer height 8.4 and 38.4 mm. When the printers pauses, you drop an M8 nut into the hole, and continue the print. This seals the nut and allows you to screw/unscrew the stick and the mount onto the flag.
